Coconut Ladoos

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups grated coconut from Freshcon
  • 1 cup condensed milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
  • A handful of crushed pistachios
  • 1/4 cup desiccated coconut (for coating)

Instructions:

  1. Toast the Coconut: In a pan over low heat, toast the desiccated coconut until it turns golden brown. Keep stirring to prevent burning. This should take about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Infuse Saffron (optional): Warm the milk slightly and add saffron strands. Allow them to steep for a few minutes to release their beautiful color and aroma.
  3. Mix It Up: In a large mixing bowl, combine the toasted coconut, condensed milk, saffron-infused milk (if using), and cardamom powder. Mix everything together until it forms a thick, cohesive mixture.
  4. Shape the Ladoos: Grease your hands with a little ghee, then take a small amount of the coconut mixture and roll it into a smooth, bite-sized ball. Continue until all the mixture is used up. If you like, you can press a chopped nut into the center of each ladoo.
  5. Final Touch: In a small pan, heat the remaining ghee and lightly roast the chopped nuts until they turn golden. Sprinkle them over the ladoos for a delightful crunch.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Optionally, garnish your coconut ladoos with edible rose petals for a touch of elegance. Let them cool for a bit before serving.
  7. Enjoy Paradise: Once they've cooled down completely, store your coconut ladoos in an airtight container. These sweet balls of paradise are perfect for celebrations or as a sweet treat anytime you crave a taste of tropical heaven.
